MODERATE ORAL CONCIOUS SEDATION
"The princess punch or the Superman Juice"
Moderate sedation is usually used on young children who may have anxiety and won't sit still during the procedure. Children with extensive dental work, severe anxiety and/or the inability to cooperate are candidates for general anesthesia.
Sometimes oral concious sedation doesn't work but general anesthesia will. Children with extensive dental needs, severe anxiety and/or the inablity to cooperate are candidates for general anesthesia. The advantage of general anesthesia is that all treatment can be completed in one visit under the supervision of anesthesiologists. Under general anesthesia, your child will be asleep, just like if he or she was having major surgery.
