Najmeh Shahbazi
DMD, MPH
Dr. Shahbazi was born and raised in Iran. She moved to the United States in 2003 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Arizona State University in 2009. She then attended the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, Arizona where she received her doctorate degree in Dental Medicine (DMD) in 2015 and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH).
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Shahbazi completed a general practice residency program at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York to improve her skills as a dentist and to gain experience in a dental hospital setting. She then returned to her home in Phoenix, Arizona and practiced as a general dentist, serving many adults and children in her community. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for pediatric dentistry. She then completed an additional two years of training in a pediatric dentistry residency at NYU Langone Hospitals in Central Phoenix.
After completion of her residency, Dr. Shahbazi moved to North Carolina and worked as a pediatric dentist in one of the most underserved areas of the state where she gained further clinical experiences in oral sedation and general anesthesia.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Shahbazi participated in several mission trips such as the Bright Island Outreach Humanitarian Trip, where she provided free dental care to children and adults in need. She has also volunteered as a pediatric dentist at events such as Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) and Arizona Mission of Mercy.
She is an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out, hiking with her dog, and seeking out new restaurants.
Her goal as a pediatric dentist is to make a positive impact and create a lasting impression on the lives of children, while educating them and their parents on the importance of oral health.
Her favorite quote, which she often tells her patients is:
“You don’t have to brush all of your teeth; just brush the ones you would like to keep!”
